Happy New Year Everyone!
Today being the first post this year i thought to put something creative like different ways to advertise that attract the EYE of the consumer.

These days we can see advertisement everywhere either we are traveling on foot or by plane but how can all these advertisements attract and perform really good? The answer is just be creative. Below are the few examples of some advertising companies who’s ads attracted the EYE of the consumer.

Rejoice is a shampoo which according to the company gives twice as smooth, and easy to comb hair versus ordinary shampoos. Tangled phone lines are a common sight on the streets of Bangkok, so Procter & Gamble decided to take advantage of how they resembled long strands of tangled hair – gives message that use Rejoice for smooth and easy to comb hairs.

McDonalds hired Leo Burnett USA to come up with ideas for a year-long advertising initiative. The sundial was a hit among passerby’s who watched the shadow of the famous golden arches highlight the best meal to eat at that hour. But the billboard got even more attention, and eyeballs, online as blogs and news sites picked up an image of the billboard.

Well its the fact if your ad is creative and attractive online as blogs and news sites will make it popular free of cost. Thus your advertisement is on everyone’s mind.

Parking Strip To get near to the consumer few companies discovered to ads on roads attracts the attention and one galances at it while walking on the road. Many companies like Quest Communications, Pepsi, and Ford had already placed parking strip ads. They have been contracted to add advertising to over three million parking spaces for office buildings, airports, and retail stores.

Pizza Boxes Cingular Wireless recently launched its “I Love New York” ad campaign on pizza boxes in the city. Staying home and ordering a pizza will no longer keep you safe from ads.

Tray Table Ad companies will do whatever it takes to reach near you. US Airways has found another use for tray tables—advertisements. Among the companies plastering their ads on US Airways tray tables are Verizon Wireless and GM Saab.

The thing here to see is that in a plane a passenger is bounded to be on board unless he visits his destination and by that time he gets the proper image of the Ad.

Street Installations When coming up with an ad campaign for FedEx Kinko’s, the innovative minds at advertising agency BBDO were inspired by the streets of New York. The agency installed oversized bottles of correction fluid, highlighters, and, in one case, an office lamp, on the city’s busy thoroughfares. It really worked for sometime getting the attraction.

Egg Advertisement To reach consumers advertising companies are thinking all the time for new product and this time it was egg. CBS Television announced the product ad on about 35 million eggs, reached the masses.

If your ads are not bringing customers then there might be some mistakes in your advertising campaign. Advertising costs a lot of money and if you are not getting what you need that means your ads never got customers’ attention.
On an average there are four big mistakes that advertisers must avoid.

Mistake 1: Demanding Polished And Professional Ads

If your ad ‘Sounds right’, these are forcibly predictable. Predictable ads donot surprise a consumer as they already know what might be in the ad. The doors of conscious awareness are kept closed and your ad fail to gain the attention of your perspective customer.

Mistake 2: Informing without persuading

Don’t make ads that present wrong information or are without proper information, like:

a. Substaining their claims. for example : “Our Price lowest” , what if they are not? would you apologize for that?

b. Explaining benefit to the customer. for example : “We use the synchronised-statical method”, i think a normal consumer is not interested in the meaning of synchronised-statical .

Mistake 3: Entertaining without persuading

Don’t draft ads that deliever entertainment without delievering clear message and causing customer to imagine themselves in action. for example : Yo quiero Taco Bell , seems like saying ” Dogs like our food, you will too” ?

Mistake 4: Decorating without persuading

If you are running a comapny that sell cosmetics, toys etc graphic designers will probably help you to create a BRAND image but what if you are selling services?

An ad which u might think a graphic designer have made is ‘Perfect’ with right colors and shade but will it work?

The important thing is getting you customer attention and compelling them to take action.

Of the customers’ who hate your ad, 99 percent will still come to you to get the product you are selling or can say when they need it. These customers don’t cost you money, they just complain about anything that’s wrong with the store.

After I analyzed the rejected ads I came to the end that few ad have great concept but few things make them a total rejection. Few reasons I’m going to share with you:

1. Advertisement shouldn’t include insulting, violent, offensive, vulgar, shocking and likely to cause undue distress, and misleading content for example: The Barbie fat clone named Ruby was printed on a print ad and was giving a wrong message as it was insulting the real Barbie.

2. The identity of the advertisers or the nature of the advertised product should be made clear and up to the point.

3. Before finalizing try to make the picture more clearer. Don’t use something either in text or with images that give wrong messages like making love or the ‘69’ pose etc. because this will be immoral and won’t be liked at all for example: An advertisement, in Vogue magazine, for lingerie. The advertisement showed a photograph, framed as though seen through a keyhole, of the torso and thighs of a woman wearing a bra and knickers. The woman’s thumbs were inside her knickers and her fingers were resting on her thighs and crotch.
The complainant objected that the advertisement was offensive because it suggested that the model was masturbating.

4. Don’t ever try to portrait religious believes or cast any kind of religious stuff into a modern style else you will be cursing yourself for example: the image used by Marithe & Francois Girbaud offends the religious sensibilities of all citizens. It trivializes the intense and dramatic moment during the Last Supper in which Christ anticipates his crucifixion in order to liberate humanity from their sins by appropriating religious symbols – such as loaves and fish – for commercial purposes and by replacing the apostles with female fashion models. Thus a rejection.

The most important thing in print world advertising are:
•	‘Style of Writing’ your content which explains your advertisement beautifully. If the ad content is not interesting the ad won’t attract the targeted group.
•	Try not to add images that make someone to point out discrimination, hate, nudity etc which can lead to total ban in some countries and rejection for your advertising campaign. Thus you will loose your money.
•	Sometimes ads doesn’t have appealing text that’s used for printing or the text diffuses into the advertisement that its barely visible and doesn’t convey the message. Thus making no output to the targeted group watching it resulting to a total flop.
•	If the advertisement one might have published in USA with sexy bikini woman for some underwear company and same is displayed at some developing or under developed countries where culture and religion matter a lot, advertisement will fail and thus loss of money for the campaign. Advertisements are made according to the country and the cultural facts keeping in mind.
I’m listing a few common ad problems and explaining each point for maximum selling potential:

1. TEXT OF YOUR AD – We everyday came across many kind of ads in one single day may be its TV, radio, internet, newspaper and other medias. But most of us just don’t even try to look on these ads and switch over to next topic. But few ads really caught viewers attention and can’t be ignored what they have in their ad which your advertisement don’t. After analyzing i found if your ad isn’t bold, bright, and active enough to reach out and grab viewer attention, they simply don’t see it.

Company name should be big n’bold enough to make its presence and the tag line the shorter the better. The statistic or products which your company sells should be in bold and clear. Avoid stylish fonts for your product listing.

2. Your Ad Sound Same – You might be offereing nice products that everyone might be waiting but if your advertisement sounds like all other ads, viewers won’t be interested in viewing.

Try to gather all information of your product and list it. Display that content which only you got in your product and not your competitors. If your product is same try looking for the points in your competitor ad and look what he might have missed which can become golden chance for the survival for your ad.

3. Creative Ideas – If you repeat you ad time and again viewers will get bore and wont even see it coz they know about your ad. Give regular time and include some creativity so tat whenever your ad is displayed something new comes and people get to see it coz the last time they viewed it was different and they will be curious that what will happen next in your new ad.

4. Your Ad is Working but Site is a Problem – Sometimes its been seen that your Ad really caught the viewer attention and they reached you site but they couldn’t find what to do next. May be if you are selling something they might not got hold of buy button or may be some bug in the site.

Before launching any kind of Ad just make sure the landing page is working fine and is easliy accessible from viewer point of view and if seeling something all ‘buy’buttons should be clearly visible.

5. Go with A Plannign Startegy – In this Huge Ad world if you don’t have a plan how thing will move. You can fall prey to many big fishes and will result in flushing money out.

Decide your budget for advertisement and try to move slowly but steadily. Don’t loose hope because it takes time to get into people’s eyes.

6. Images Say A Thousand Word – I have seen many ads which are not upto the mark. Images play an important role in advertisement and if the image you use lack the style and attitude that your product deserves it will give wrong message to viewer.

There are many image stock available on the net like corbis, istockphoto and many more.. you can buy photographs from there. If your budget is zero and you still need images just search for non copyright images.

I tried to help you from what i know and how things can be achieved. Hope your ads will make a mark and will earn you revenue .

Ads for exchanges and linking sites should act as Mouse Click Magnets. Effective ads should draw your attention to them and get people to click. For shorter loading time it is suggested to keep it under 12k! So here are some criteria for making these types of ads:

Under 12k

Text messages need to be very short and legible.

Should be flashy and fast, or informative, but for 12 k may have to sacrifice one.

Should conform to standard banner ad sizes.

As such there are no standardized banner sizes. Every website has its own size if its not just using Google ads. Still on the whole few sites prefer to use the following sizes for web advertising that are considered standard:
468 x 60 pixels (Full Horizontal banner)
234 x 60 pixel (Half banner)
120 x 60 pixel (Quarter banner)
120 x 120 pixel (Half banner)
125 x 240 pixel (Shirt column)
125 x 400 pixel (Medium column)
125 x 600 pixel (Long column / skyscraper)
88 x 31 pixel (Button)
88 x 62 pixel (Button)
